Earlier this month, Greek researchers published a study in Mediterranean Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism showing that following 4 lifestyle practices could improve academic performance in teens.

The researchers recruited over 500 teen participants in Athens, Greece. They measured adherence to the Mediterranean diet, physical activity, anxiety, attitude toward health, and academic performance.

Diet may improve depression better than social support

Australian researchers recently published a study in Nutritional Neuroscience showing that nutritional intervention can have a more positive effect on depression than social support.

The researchers conducted a 12-week trial for over 60 participants, who were randomly assigned to one of two groups: diet intervention or social support. Roughly 80% of the participants were already being treated for depression (psychotherapy, medication, or both).

Those in the diet intervention groups received counselling sessions, recipes, and food samples for the following key food groups:

Choline may be able to reduce anxiety levels

Why we should name EMPowerplus in EMPowerplus research

We’ve talked in the past of the importance of using independent researchers in the study of our products, like EMPowerplus. Yet despite our not funding the research, not dictating how researchers conduct their trials, and in every way try to keep an arm’s length from the research, people still claim, to discredit it, that we influence the research on our products.

Mental health researchers, Dr. Bonnie Kaplan and Dr. Julia Rucklidge—both of whom have headed up research on our products—recently wrote about this very issue.

Study: EMPowerplus may help children with stress & anxiety

New Zealand researchers recently published a study where they found that EMPowerplus may help alleviate stress and anxiety in children.

The researchers designed a multiple-baseline trial to see what effect micronutrients — EMPowerplus specifically — could have on children experiencing stress and anxiety 2–3 years after a traumatic event, in this case, the 2010 earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.
