In the decades since the first discovery in 1929, researchers have been able to find stronger links between the bacteria that live in our intestines and mental health.

In a study published in the journal BioEssays last year, researchers noted that some bacteria living in our digestive system actually produce neurochemicals that are found in our central nervous system.

Fish oil can improve your mental health

salmon dinnerIn a study published in the journal Neurology earlier this year, researchers noted that diets that regulary include foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids may be able to help middle-aged and elderly adults slow the mental decline that leads to dementia.

Omega-3 fatty acids occur in fish (e.g. salmon, mackerel, anchovy, sardine,

Is the Vitamin B12 in EMPowerplus poisonous?

From time to time, we receive questions from both customers and otherwise interested persons regarding our use of cyanocobalamin as the primary form of vitamin B12 in EMPowerplus. Questions arise mainly because of concern for the potential toxicity of cyanocobalamin, considering its connection to cyanide. It is important for us to publicly address this concern.

The first thing we must know is that microorganisms are the only true source of B12. Any B12 found in plants is because of bacteria found on or in those plants.

Chinese food lowers risk of depression and anxiety

In our most recent post, we highlighted a recent study showing a link between proper nutrient intake and mental health.

Last fall, researchers in China published a study in Public Health Nutrition about the effect specific diets have on mental health. This is somewhat different from last issue’s study, which focused on specific nutrient levels and their effect on mental health.

Can EMPowerplus help adults with ADHD?

In December 2011, The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicinepublished the results of an open-label pilot study conducted by University of Canterbury’s Julia Rucklidge.

Dr. Rucklidge and her colleagues tested 14 adults with ADHD on memory (using the Wide Range Assessment of Memory and Learning) and executive functioning (using the Delis–Kaplan Executive Functioning System and Conners Continuous Performance Test). They tested them at the start of the eight-week trial and tested them at the end of the trial, during which time they had consumed EMPowerplus.

Terrie’s story: Bipolar & self harming

Over a 15-year period, Terrie P. had been on every pharmaceutical made to treat bipolar. For over 40 years, since the age of eight, she had been regularly cutting herself as a form of self-treatment, even while on medications.

Two months prior to trying EMPowerplus, Terry felt she had run out of options. She had decided years before she would commit suicide if her bipolar became too hard to handle. She felt that going off her medication was the last option before suicide.
