Why take a broad-spectrum amino acid blend?

Amino acids are the building blocks of our body; more specifically, they build our neurotransmitters, messengers of that communicate neurologic information from one cell to another.

Let’s take the neurotransmitter serotonin. During the day, serotonin is your feel good “happy” molecule. At night, it turns into melatonin so you can experience a deep and restful sleep. To produce serotonin, you need sufficient levels of L-tryptophan.  Serotonin is a calming neurotransmitter and can act as antidepressant to reduce depression.

Dopamine is another neurotransmitter, and it is the parent of norepinephrine and adrenaline. These are also known as catecholamines and are nicknamed “The Cats”.   To build dopamine, norepinephrine, and adrenaline, you needs sufficient levels of tyrosine and phenylalanine. These catecholamines help you focus, stay alert, and concentrate.  Dopamine and catecholamines are energizing neurotransmitters.

Truehope’s Transition Support Plus is a free-form amino acid blend that allows the amino acids to bypass digestion and absorb in just a couple of minutes.  It contains a blend of 16 amino acids that include L-tryptophan and L-tyrosine, which are required to synthesize the serotonin and dopamine.

Feeling tired? Wake up with all-natural EMPowerplus!

Vitamins and minerals are important co-factors supporting energy metabolism and well-being. They are part of the micronutrient family (vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and essential fatty acids), which plays a role in virtually every biological, chemical, and physiological process in our bodies.

Mitochondria exist in every cell of our body and are often referred to as the “powerhouse” of the cell. They generate energy in the form of a molecule called ATP (adenosine triphosphate).

Here are some examples of how vitamins and minerals function in energy metabolism:

  • Riboflavin (B2) as a cofactor in the mitochondrial respiratory chain helps release energy from foods.

Don’t use the end of Daylight Saving Time to skimp on sleep

The end of Daylight Saving Time is this weekend. Well, at least for this year.

While most of the negative press surrounding Daylight Saving Time appears to occur in the spring, there are some concerns in the autumn, too. Most of us tend to use the switch to standard time as an excuse for poor sleeping practices. After all, we get an extra hour of sleep. It’s still a great time to remember good sleeping habits.

We all know that getting a good night’s sleep is an important part of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Do I have seasonal affective disorder?

The September equinox took place last month. In the northern hemisphere, this marks the first day of autumn. It also marks the day when the amount of daylight and the amount of darkness are equal. As has become apparent to most people by now, the amount of darkness each day is overshadowing (no pun intended) the amount of daylight.

While many people are negatively affected by the reduction in daylight—making them feel gloomy—as much as 3% of the population has seasonal affective disorder.

Eating more fruits and veggies may lower depression risk

Earlier this year, Chinese researchers published an article in the academic journal Nutrition indicating that there may be a connection between fruit and vegetable consumption and low depression risk.

The researchers analyzed a total of 18 studies involving nearly 450,000 participants, measuring fruit and vegetable intake against depression occurrence. What they discovered was an inverse association between eating fruits and vegetables and depression risk. In other words, the more fruits and vegetables people at, the less likely they seemed to have depression.

Did you know that nutrition can help your depression?

Over the last few years, researchers have become more open to the idea that diet and mental health are inextricably linked. Several studies have demonstrated that connection.

One common thread among these studies is the importance of whole foods—such as fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and fish—in one’s diet. This makes sense since whole foods (especially in substantial quantities and varieties) are richer in the vitamins and minerals needed for proper brain function. As compared to junk food, which is deficient in many of the nutrients

Here are 6 studies that specifically connect fresh fruits and vegetables (as well as a few other healthy foods) with positive mental health,
