Vicki’s success story: depression

I want to let others know there is hope from the pit of despair which is where I came from. My name is Vicki, 34 yrs old, married for 10 years, with 2 children. I am a Radiological Technologist, but currently I am a domestic goddess. My husband and I have 2 beautiful children, a son (19 yrs) and a daughter (6 yrs).

My story begins 6 years ago after giving birth. I experienced the “baby blues” immediately after coming home from the hospital. My symptoms progressed into depression, crying for no reason, and sadness that came from nowhere. About 3 months after giving birth I was diagnosed with postpartum depression and was placed on medication.

By this time, I was unable to take care of anything. The only physical contact I had with my baby was while breastfeeding and taking naps with her. My mom came to live with us to help my husband and I take care of our baby and myself. I was unable to be left alone never knowing what I might do, or if I would take off and drive off a cliff. I was in my own “nightmare,” a colorless,

Jose’s success story: depression

I’d start this off with “once upon a time,” but this is no fairy tale. This is a little story, a true story, about someone who is back on track, and you could be too.

I’ve been dealing with mental illness as far back as I remember. It started with my father and later on in my life became my burden. I knew I had problems early in my teens, but only sought help when a friend at work noticed a change in my behavior and gave me the name of her ex-husband’s psychiatrist.

Bree’s success story

I feel my life and sanity has been saved by being introduced to Truehope.

Back in 2003, I was in the state of hopelessness. As a parent to Joshua, age 5, it was nothing but tears, heartache, resentment and many prayers of no words, just a scream, pleading for help from God.

Pamela’s success story: bipolar

My name is Pamela Tipping, and my mother was diagnosed 23 years ago with manic depression (bipolar), when I was 10 years old.

I had a tough time growing up; however, my mother is an incredible woman. Through those insane years, in and out of institutions, going through the severe effects of prescription meds, and raising 2 kids on her own, she managed to obtain her master’s degree in psychology and is now a highly regarded psychologist in a federal position. I am very proud of her.

Deborah’s success story: bipolar

My name is S. Deborah Fryer. I’ve been a Truehope participant since 12 February 2003.

I suffered from symptoms I didn’t know were mental illness for 49 years. My main problems were depression, anxiety, social phobia, obsessive compulsions, fear, negative self-image, dark moods, crying jags, inability to focus, rages and daily thoughts of suicide.

My mental health began deteriorating significantly after I found myself in an abusive marriage. I had three children over 2 years 7 months and slept 4 hours a night for the four years I was married.

Larry’s success story: bipolar

Larry suffered from depression and bipolar disorder for more than 30 years before he found Truehope.

With the help of his doctor and Truehope Support, he then made the transition from psychiatric medications to EMPowerplus.

The first year of taking EMPowerplus was rough for Larry. He endured medication withdrawal symptoms and longer-term residual effects of the medications.
