Martin’s success story: bipolar

When Martin was in his teens, he moved to the United States. After finding out American life wasn’t what he had expected, he began to feel depressed and became sick physically. He went to the doctor who said that everything seemed fine. It wasn’t until his speech and behaviour became strange and erratic that the doctors gave him attention.

He was admitted into a psychiatric hospital, where they prescribed a regiment of medications for his behaviour. He didn’t like the side effects of the medications because he felt drowsy and tired all the time and had no energy.

He had a medication change that put him into a manic state, during which he felt that he was on top of the world and could do anything. He was readmitted into the psych ward for his behaviour and was prescribed a cocktail of 12  medications.

In January of 2009, he was released from the hospital with no medications, and the doctor told him that he was now able to go and live a normal life. Martin did the things that he wanted to do with no problems until just over a year later, when he had a mental breakdown.

He was admitted into the hospital for a week, where he was once again prescribed psychiatric medications. The medications made him feel a little better, but he still had negative side effects from them. In his twenties at this point, Martin began to feel frustrated because he couldn’t do the things he wanted to do, and there were some days where he didn’t see any reason for living.

Martin heard about Truehope EMPowerplus, a natural vitamin and mineral supplement, from his sister, who used it for a psychiatric disorder. With nothing to lose, he decided to try it. Within days he began to notice a difference. He began to sleep again and feel better.

Within a month, while transitioning from the psychiatric medications and onto the EMPowerplus, he began to feel better than he had ever felt.

Because of EMPowerplus and the Truehope support program, Martin can work and go to school. He can do all the things that he wanted to do. He says that Truehope has given him chance to live a new life.
