Josh’s success story: bipolar

When Nancy noticed her son displaying unusual behaviour prior to his 18th birthday, she first attributed it to his dealing with the recent death of his father.

Josh’s manic episodes began to elevate: his behaviour was over-the-top, he was unreasonable, he felt unstoppable, and he was quick to anger. His behaviour perplexed Nancy, and she had no idea what to do.  When police brought Josh home late one night that summer, Nancy realized her son needed help.

Doctors stabilized Josh’s behaviour with anti-psychotic drugs during a month-long stay in the hospital. For the two years following his stay, Josh was in a constant sedated state, and Nancy felt he wasn’t himself anymore. Josh didn’t like how he felt on his medication, and his mother had to fight with him to take it.

In fact, before long Josh went off his medication without his mother’s knowledge. When Nancy realized the amount of medication they had didn’t seem to diminish, she confronted her son, who denied that he had bipolar. After 9 months of not taking his medication, Josh started to lose control of his life.

A psychiatrist told Nancy about Truehope. He had seen it help many of his patients, and he recommended she try it for Josh.

Watch Nancy share her story about how Truehope helped Josh and her.
