Vanessa’s story: special needs & multiple disorders

If you’ve been following Truehope for a while, you’re probably familiar with our efforts to help people with bipolar disorderdepressionanxiety, and ADD/ADHD. You’ve probably even watched one of our success videos or read one of our success stories.

Did you know though that we have several success stories from people who have mental health issues other than the four listed above? These success stories are from people with health issues ranging from stroke to schizophrenia.

We announce our newest video, a story by Danilla. In it, she describes her experience of growing up with her sister, Vanessa, who has special needs, including multiple mood disorders.

Woman sitting down, talkingVanessa would have inconsolable, lengthy tantrums when she was younger. She had trouble focusing, interacting with others, and conveying her needs. Her behaviour was erratic and volatile. She lacked independence and couldn’t even dress herself or go to the washroom on her own.

Vanessa’s mum saw a story about Truehope on the Discovery Channel, and she and Danilla got in touch with Truehope as quickly as they could. Vanessa had seen many doctors and had been on all sorts of medications without much success, so Danilla was a bit sceptical to how a multivitamin could make a difference. Even so, she supported her mother’s decision, and Vanessa began taking EMPowerplus.

After only a few months, Vanessa’s ability to focus and communicate her needs improved significantly. While on antidepressants and other medications, Vanessa always seemed to be out of it, but on EMPowerplus, she enjoys a higher level of independence, which has improved her self confidence.
